In this unit we learned about the reading process. While learning about the reading process we learned about all the different steps that help us read. There is before reading, during reading, and after reading. Before Reading Set a Purpose:
When you set a purpose, you find the reason you’re reading and what you want to learn. You had to read for a reason. Why? Was it because of an assignment, homework, or maybe curiosity? Then find out what you want to learn. Do you need to learn about Outer Space, the Amazon, or the Arctic? Once you’ve figured why you’re reading, you move on. Preview
Preview is looking over a book to find out a little bit of information about the book before you start reading it. When you preview a book, you could look at the cover, skim it, look at the table of contents, read the summery, read the first chapter, etc. Preview is an important part of the reading process. With out is, you would not have a good idea of what the book is about and we may not understand is at first. Plan
Is to think about what you are going to do when you read.
During Reading Read with a Purpose
When your reading you ask your self questions.
Connect
Connect is when you connect the text to yourself, text to text and text to world. This is important because of the back round knowledge you will get after connecting, you use the knowledge to read better. Which that is what the reading process is all about.
After Reading
Pause and reflect
Pause and reflect is when you look back at your book and see if you have learned what you wanted to. What was your purpose? Did you reach it? Those are the things you want to ask yourself after you have finished reading. We learned that it was very important to reading. Because if you didn't learn what you wanted to, why did you read the book?
Remember
Remember is when you figure a way to remember (know) what you read. Mostly when you read for a reason except for when you do it for fun. You should figure a strategy to remember, even if you have a photo imagination. That is what remember means.
Re-Read
Re-Read means to look backover your text because most likley you will always miss something as you read. 1.Tia Offner
